Coaching focuses on future possibilities, not past mistakes. It focuses on awareness of self, to help individuals understand why they do what they do, and how they can do things differently. As a trained leadership and conflict coach Moira works with leaders, managers, individuals from all walks of life to help them identify and eliminate blocks that may be hindering their true potential, or stopping them from achieving their goals.
Coaching is not therapy or counseling but focuses on the potential of everyone. It is a structured and solution focused conversation which includes setting goals, and identifying actions that ensure sustainable change.
Coaching involves reflecting, thinking and analysing situations from a number of different perspectives to better understand them. Organisational and leadership coaching links the aspirations and the concerns of an individual with their leadership or organisational goals, agendas, and concerns. This type of coaching can help individuals improve their personal and professional effectiveness within an organisation by gaining new insights, understanding of their own and strengths and move towards achieving outcomes that benefit both them personally as well as the organisation.
Conflict Management Coaching assists individuals to gain increased skills, ability, and confidence to manage and engage in interpersonal conflicts or disputes. Again, coaching involves a structured solution focused process that aims to help the individual understand the conflict better, prepare for future conflict situations, better understand their choices and possible solutions to address the conflict including what may be the most appropriate path to take.
Coaching for better performance
Have you seen the equation that identifies Performance as “potential minus interference”?
Performance + Potential – Interference
Often it is the “Interference” that is preventing us achieving our true potential. This is the self-doubt, the inner dialogue in our heads, and the lack of awareness of what we are capable of and how to achieve it. Through a collaborative partnership with a coach who has the belief in the potential that everyone has, individuals can become more aware of what is preventing them from reaching their goals, their true potential, and gain insight in how to address this. Coaching can improve performance in so many areas including leadership, sporting prowess, conflict management and problem-solving ability.
Leadership Coaching
Successful leaders lead through supporting their teams to reach their potential – in other words, coaching their team (as opposed to command and control leadership styles). It is well researched that leadership style will determine a team’s performance, and ultimately the performance of an organisation. Coaching can help leaders build their self-awareness, their responsibility, and help develop their leadership capabilities and potential.
Coaching can be undertaken face to face, or online via Zoom.
